Flummery
I'm writing my PhD dissertation while I sometimes teach (in Cinema Studies) at La Trobe University (Melbourne, Australia). I'm mostly focused on sound, the body, television/film aesthetics and spectatorship. With some Buffy and queer/feminist theory thrown in for good measure (though not in the thesis).
My site specifically for those purposes is here
From here will be links to the flum (read: the scholarly scribbles I spawn) which will be updated as I remember to do so. I'll also keep up some kind of bibliography of works I've contributed to or publications my stuff appears in.
To begin:
Resounding the Cinematic is my honours thesis. Aurality in cinematic spectatorship, Deleuzian masochism, occult horror film. Enjoy ;)
Jossology is a hub of my Buffyology work. It contains several essays and critical papers, an in-progress episode blog, and numerous other diversions.
Doing book reviews for Screening the Past
Lounge Critic. I've presented at two of these ACMI events in the past year: Once More with Squealing (Oct 2003), and Evil Inc.: Exterminating Angel (July 2004)
Vibewire featured a regular column from me on the Buffyverse. There are also numerous other film essays I've written (though most pre date 2001).
UniMelb: What Lies Beneath. An interdisciplinary conference in November. My paper is on aurality in the cinema (and theories of the cinematic apparatus)
Staking A Claim. I am presenting a paper here.
Sonic/Synergies: Creative/Cultures. My paper is schedules for the first day of the conference. An abstract can be found here.
more on the way...
